- Can I lose more than I deposited?
Usually a losing position is automatically closed by the system when Equity becomes less than 20% of the Necessary Margin. However, the FX market is highly volatile and if you have a very low margin level over economic news releases or under other abnormal conditions the market can rapidly move against you and the system will close open positions at the next best available price which could cause you to lose the whole deposit or even more. Also, if you are holding positions over a weekend when we are closed, the market can open out of line from the close on Friday causing extended losses. We recommend that you always place protective orders (stop losses) to minimize losses regardless of their nature.
- What do I do with the files on the 'History Center' webpage?
Please save the required file and then open 'MetaTrader -> Tools -> History Center', then double click on the required currency pair and period and press 'Import'. Select the saved file and press OK.
- How do I download historical data for MetaTrader?
Please open MetaTrader, select Tools -> History Center. Double-click on the required currency pair and period and press 'Download'. The historical data you selected should then be downloaded.
- Where do the quotes in the History Center come from?
Recent quotes in the history database are from Alpari UK Limited. History for previous years mostly comes from MetaQuotes Corp. (the developers of MetaTrader).
- How do I add an Expert Advisor?
Please save your expert advisor into MetaTrader’s directory on your computer: C:Program FilesMetaTrader - Alpari UKexperts. Then restart MetaTrader. The expert advisor file should appear in the Navigator window in MetaTrader. Left click on it and drag it onto a chart of the currency that you would like the expert advisor to trade on.
- What do I do if the attached Expert Advisor does not trade?
First of all check if trading is allowed by going to 'Tools -> Options -> Experts tab -> Allow live trading'. Then make sure that the Expert Advisor button on the main tool bar is pressed. You should be able to see a smilie face in the top right-hand corner of your chart to show that you have activated your EA correctly. If everything is OK but the EA still does not trade, see your log files via the 'Experts' tab in the 'Terminal' window (you should be able to see what error occurs).
