- Do you offer swap-free accounts?
Yes, we do. SWAP free accounts incur no interest charges/payments but on the other hand they incur commission charges. Swap free accounts must pay 10 units of base currency per lot per night. For example, if you were trading 1 lot EUR/USD on a swap free account you would have to pay 10 Euros per night to be able to hold the trade. If you want a swap free account please open a standard account as explained on the account opening web page and then send a request to our Customer Services team to change it over to swap free status.
- Can I change my leverage?
No. Only Customer Support can change leverage on a trading account. This must be requested by email.
- How do I see all trading instruments available for trading?
Please single right-click on the 'Market Watch' window (the yellow window which shows available currency pairs and live quotes) and select 'Show All'.
- How can I view my trading history?
Please open the 'Terminal' window (press Ctrl+T on your keyboard) and select the 'Account History' tab. Right-click to enable the context menu which will allow you to save your trading history as a .html file that can be viewed outside the trading platform.
- How can I change my account information?
You must email or phone our Customer Services team who will be able to assist you regarding any changes you wish to make.
- Does Alpari (UK) tax my earnings?
No. All tax arrangements are your concern. If you have any doubts regarding your tax status we recommend that you seek independent advice.
- What is the minimum contract size?
The minimum contract size is 0.01 of a lot i.e 1,000 units of base currency.
- How much margin do I need to open a 0.1 lot in EUR/USD?
For example, the EUR/USD exchange rate is 1.5507/1.5509. You buy 0.1 lot at 1.5509 (Ask price). 0.1 lot is 10,000 EUR. This means that you buy 10,000 EUR and sell 10,000*1.5509=15,509 USD. To fund this position we require a margin of 1% (because leverage is 1:100) so you need 155.09 USD on your account not 15,509 USD. The rest of the money (in our example 15,353.91 USD) is leveraged to you by Alpari (UK).
- What time do I see in my MetaTrader?
Our trading platform server timezone is Central European Time (CET) or London time +1. All trades, pending orders and historical data will always be shown as CET or London + 1. The time you see in the Market Watch window is the time of the latest quote.
- Can I change the timezone in MetaTrader?
No, the timezone of our trading servers is always GMT/BST+1. Having times in GMT/BST+1 avoids having small candlesticks on Sundays and therefore allows the running of technical analysis and back testing to be more smooth and straight forward.
